Brushes come in all shapes and sizes. It can be a mind-boggling experience for a beginner to pick the basic brushes, and it isn't easy for the experienced painter either. I am not going to tell you what brushes you need, but I will hopefully help explain what brushes are used and maybe make it easier to purchase the right brush for the right job.
Paint brushes are one of the most important tools that you have in painting. The importance of maintaining good clean brushes can not be stressed enough. It is also a common practice not to use the same brushes for oil paints that you would use for water-based paints. The solvents used in the cleaning of brushes used in oil paints can be damaging to the bristles. Having two sets of brushes, one for oils and the other for water-based paints, will save the quality brushes from the excessive wear and tear of harsh chemicals.
